Materials that are accepted at the site at Flusco include:
- Scrap metal
- Wood
- Garden
- Fridges and other white goods (freezers, washing machines, ovens etc)
- Oil
- Foil
- Cans and tins
- Newspaper & magazines
- Glass bottles and jars (clear, brown, green)
- Car batteries
- Cardboard
- Hardcore & rubble/soil
- Small appliances ( hairdryers, irons, microwaves etc)
- Small household batteries
- Gas bottles
- Plastics
- Books/DVDs
- Tetra packs
- Shoes
- Textiles
- TVs and monitors
- Tyres
- Fluorescent tubes/energy saving light bulbs
- Plasterboard and gypsum (please telephone in advance to confirm that there is enough space for these items)
- Chemicals ie weed killer (this must be reported to an attendant when brought on site)
- Paint and dry empty metal paint cans
- Carpets - Flusco are currently accepting/ recycling carpets. Try to ensure the grippers are removed.
- Asbestos (please telephone in advance to confirm that there is enough space for your asbestos waste)
- General household waste
Trade waste is not accepted
There is a permit scheme in operation at Penrith recycling centre. This means that if you want to bring your household rubbish using a van or a twin axle trailer (up to 3 meters long) you will require a permit to do so. The Environment Agency is responsible for regulating the handling and disposal of hazardous and special waste and will provide information and advice as required. They can be contacted on 08708 506 506 Mon-Fri, 8am - 6pm.
