Household Waste Recycling Centre Permit Scheme

What's it all about?

Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) are provided for householders to deposit and recycle household rubbish. As more and more people are recycling, the increases in the number of people visiting the HWRCs are resulting in increased congestion, reduced standards of safety and difficulties in ensuring reception facilites are available. To address these issues it is important to ensure that the facilities at all Cumbrian HWRCs are used only by housholders for household rubbish.

What does this mean to me?

If you drive a van, pickup, flatbed or tow a twin axel trailer (up to 3m long) you will need to obtain a free permit in advance of your visit to any HWRC.

TRADE WASTE IS NOT ACCEPTED AT ANY CUMBRIAN HWRC.
