And the winner is....
The winners' awards

Following months of hard work, Cumbria's R Factor has finally reached its climax and the overall winners have been announced on local radio stations across the region.

Lines closed at Midnight on Sunday 3rd May after two weeks of voting by listeners of CFM, The Bay and Lakeland Radio via text and the radio station websites.

With almost 60% of the votes Kirkbride Primary School in Wigton is a clear winner in the North of the county, with their catchy song "Don't be mean, you've got to be green!"

Children at Castle Park School in Kendal are also celebrating a landslide victory this morning after gaining 4 times the amount of votes as their nearest rival in the competition. Their song asked "Can we can do it? - Yes we can", and used some great instruments to create a really memorable tune.

Bill Johnston, Managing Director Lakeland Radio, "There has been an unprecedented uptake in votes for this competition. Almost five and a half thousand listeners voted for their favourite song either via the radio station's website or through text messaging. Between them the 2 winning schools secured close to two thirds of all the votes which is a phenomenal achievement".
